At Nulton Diagnostic and Treatment Center, we offer a service to help with depression called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the process of TMS Therapy doctors will use a targeted pulsed magnetic field similar to an MRI machine. A small magnetic coil will be placed around the patient’s head to create the targeted field which stimulates areas of the brain that are “under-active”. The patient may have a feeling of lightly tapping on their head and sounds of clicking. Since TMS does not require anesthesia, or show any major symptoms, you can continue on normally with the rest of your day after treatment. This makes it easier to go to and from appointments. Some reported symptoms of TMS therapy include discomfort, headaches, and slight pain near the area of treatment. These symptoms can be easily treated with non prescription medicines and the appointments only take a short amount of time everyday for 5 days, for approximately 4-6 weeks.
